Round Up: Paris Fashion Week Men's FW24
Our First Round Picks From Paris
In no particular order
As the dust settles from the whirlwind that was Paris Fashion Week Men’s FW24, we sat down to debrief on the product highlights that we experienced. This season we felt an emphasis towards the hybrid shoe; cross-utilitarian function in the form of material selection, the mixing of product categories and the creation of entirely new ones. Y-3’s Kyasu boot embodies this multi-functional nature by offering a slide that is entirely covered by a sculpted leather overboot. ALIVEFORM debuted a selection of new 3D-printed silhouettes including the ‘Flaine Hybrid’ - a maryjane strapped low-pro shoe with extra outdoor aggression. At.Kollektive continued their innovation programme with season two of leather offerings from Kiko Kostadinov, Peter Do and Nina Christen, developing on the success of previous outsole toolings and pushing a selection of new models. Elsewhere, Roa Hiking and Suicoke both introduced new silhouettes with a focus on casual outdoor comfort. In particular the toe-down shaping and heel detailing of Roa’s new Sella model caught our interest. Athletics FTWR are blazing their own path with the building of their own proprietary technologies, which they plan to continue developing into product which performs with the best. Both Demon Footwear and AKMÉ showed why they’re still ones to watch with updated executions in the hybrid utilitarian boot category. Finally, we couldn’t miss the hybrid of hybrid’s from Junya Watanabe x New Balance’s 1906 loafer. Certainly not the first cross-utility loafer but definitely one of the most well integrated and balanced interpretations we’ve seen.
