Moncler Trailgrip

Exclusive Insight from Moncler’s Head of Footwear Nathan VanHook

At a recent experiential event in Milan entitled ‘Studio Ascenti’, Moncler showcased their latest footwear collection. The first collection of footwear from former Nike ACG Creative Director, and current Moncler Head of Footwear, Nathan VanHook.

Channeling Moncler’s mountain trail DNA, each style in the Trailgrip collection is defined by utility and united by a distinctive, rugged Vibram MEGAGRIP sole inspired by maximum-traction mountain bike tires. The exaggerated tread and curved rubber toecap provide both a strong aesthetic, as well as ultimate durability and protection on the trail, or in the city.

The 100% waterprooft GTX low-top sneaker will release in four colour options and features breathable GORE-TEX technology. The style also features flexible carbon fibre plates, which offer responsive cushioning and dynamic support to help maximise energy output. The carbon fibre chassis works as a rock plate for underfoot protection and comfort, speed, and endurance. These elements combined with close partnerships with storied outdoor specialists like Cordura, GORE-TEX and Vibram further underline the Trailgrip’s unflinching outdoor credentials. All this, plus an Ortholite Sockliner is incorporated underfoot for added comfort, partnered with a heel clip for stability, it goes without saying these sneakers will be ready to endure whatever you decide to do in them.

In what can only be described as vintage Nathan VanHook styling, above you can see an exclusive look at some of the initial sketches of each silhouette in the collection, including the injection moulded, neoprene bootie toting Aqua Boot in both low and high cuts, a High-top Milispec Trail boot, quilted Apres Trail sneaker, Trailgrip High boot and of course, the 3 rocket emoji GTX low sneaker with a Crocodile inspired embossed pattern (not be confused with Alligator).

An impressive debut collection to say the least. Stay tuned for more updates and exclusive BTS looks at Moncler’s future footwear offerings.
