What’s the Story Behind the Nike Air VaporMax FK Gator ISPA?

Nike recently shared a bit more of an insight into their latest ISPA release, the Nike Air VaporMax FK Gator –

“The origin of the latest Nike ISPA design has a simple foundation. While the Nike Air VaporMax Flyknit is comfortable (for all its lightweight, responsive reasons), the shoe suffers during the flash downpours of summer and the steady rain of fall. The solution — inventing a sophisticated removable shroud that swiftly transforms the Nike Air VaporMax Flyknit into a water-resistant gator boot — draws from all four elements of the ISPA design processes.
The inspiration comes from cycling spats, effectively scavenging an idea from bike commuters and adapting it to a sleeker form that protects the wearer from wet weather. If one improvises with the shroud, a number of rather cool, stylistic stances can also form.” – Nike
