Footwear designer and inspiration sharer, Mister Cheng puts in work.
Not only can you find a constant source of inspiration via his website & Instagram page, but he’s also got a pretty outstanding portfolio of his own.
It’s quite easy to get a vibe and feel for the type of design that Mister Cheng appreciates. From adidas Futurecraft shoes to Visvim, detailed, unique and innovative footwear is often found adorning his sites, and it seems that this appreciation and mind-set has translated into his own work baring similar qualities;
“As a footwear designer, I want to especially stimulate the renewal of men’s shoes. I reinterpreted recurring classical models such as the Derby, Oxford and the Monk through my fascination for the unfinished and the imperfect. I think that the dress shoe could use a more expressive and distinctive look that relates itself more to the developments in men’s fashion.
To shape the concept of the imperfect and the unfinished, I like to reveal the hidden skin of the dress shoe and uncover what is beneath. By for example revealing a phase of the shoe during the construction to maintaining unfinished edges. Simultaneously this rawness is being juxtaposed with unusual materials. This pairing not only creates unconventional shoes, but moreover highlights the small details that are often overlooked in standard footwear.” – Cheng
