Current Reebok Footwear Design Apprentice, Seth Maxwell brings us another beautiful project he’s been working on during his time with the company; The Reebok DMX Run 10 Moc.
This project sought to combine elements of Reebok’s DMX Run 10 sneaker and traditional footwear silhouettes to create a contemporary lifestyle design.
The DMX RUN was released in 1997 and was hailed as the ‘best running shoe in the history of the world.’ The unconventional styling attracted much attention, and its appeal continues well after the initial debut. For the project, the goal was to reintroduce the iconic sneaker in a progressive silhouette with contemporary construction details, while conveying a sense of tradition and craft the comprises Reebok’s Classic heritage. – Seth
Inspiration from the initial DMX RUN is very prevalent in the new design, particularly with the lacing and the perforations at the front of the shoe. The silhouette has also been dramatically altered and now features an aggressive, low cutting/sloping collar and a sleeker toe box. The choice in outsole also gives the new design a more dynamic sport/casual feel.
From the initial inspiration, to sketches and sample development, Seth does a brilliant job of capturing the process the design and development of these DMX Run 10 Moc. Check out the design and development of the Reebok DMX Run 10 Moc in full, below.
