No.One Cares…About Aglets

Part of the reason why I show love to No.One so heavily is their passion and approach in bringing contemporary and clean aesthetics with high quality, tradtional hand-crafted techiniques and detailing. It’s a beautiful combination when executed correctly, and No.One continues to do that at a high level.

Their latest contemporary/hand crafted detail may be small, but it speaks volumes about their dedication in creating modern day crafted masterpieces. They recently revealed their “Hand Whipped Lace Ends” – each aglet being hand finnished, taking a full hour to complete for just one pair of shoes.

“No.One Cares is something we say a lot. It’s written outside on our wall and it’s the first thing you see when you visit the studio.
Its not just a message to our neighbors about their latest food pics or VC conquests—it’s also a reminder to ourselves that No.One cares about things that no one else cares about.
Some of the latest evidence of this are these hand whipped lace ends (known as Aglets in the shoe biz) that we have been experimenting with.
It took a few weeks of trial and error to find the right thread, technique and finishing/lacquering. Each lace end takes about 15 minutes to do (each pair needs 4) which adds another hour to the making time of the Edition. Anyone in the shoe biz or with any biz sense at all knows that kind of investment into such a tiny detail does not make dollars and sense.
But No.One cares.” – No.One
