Nike & Dell Envision the Future of VR Footwear Design

Nike and Dell have partnered to showcase the potential of designing products for athletes using virtual reality, augmented reality, voice control and haptic technology.

The potential of being able to create shoes in 3D in a more tactile and intuitive manner is obviously a pretty appealing concept. If this video is any indication of what a not-so-far-off future of VR design could potentially be, I can’t wait to give it a try myself. I can’t help but think about Tony Stark or Minority Report, with their augmented reality, gesture controlled holographic renderings, and think how this could potentially make the sampling process much more streamlined and efficient.

We’ve already had a slight glimpse of the potential of designing footwear in VR with companies like Gravity Sketch, and it seems it’s only going to get much more interesting in the very near future.

Check out the video below for a look into what Dell & Nike believe the future of VR Footwear Design may look like.
