Initially, part of a 12-month project, (the brief was brought to a halt after the designer was offered a full-time role) this project was an after-hours conceptual study done during designer, Austin Jermacans 6-month apprenticeship at New Balance.
“The idea behind this concept stems from the continuous commercialization of 3D printed products. As the means of production becomes affordable, having a mirrored design for the left and right foot could become archaic for a dynamic sport such as fencing.” – Austin
Despite the project ending before he had time to really finish it, Austin spent some time with New Balance 3d artist, Kayla Roskopf to visualize where he left off, which you can see below.
