You may have figured out by now that I have somewhat of an obsession with shoe lasts. Though luckily, after having spoken with a few other footwear designer/developers, it seems to be a fairly common trait amongst a good amount of us.
Not only is the last one of the most important aspects of an aesthetically pleasing shoe, it’s also incredibly important to the comfort and overall functionality of it. They also come in a variety of colours and materials, so they’re always slightly different depending on which factory you go to. Essentially they’re like small, functional sculptures that pretty much exemplify the beauty of the shoe making process.
From factories/ateliers in Belgium, Italy and Portugal, to China, Mexico and the USA, I’ve compiled some of the best #LastComesFirst images that we’ve featured on our Instagram account so far.
