Design student and current World Sneaker Championship contender, Martin Ding has created his own version of what he believes James Harden’s first signature could have looked like.
The shoes are incredibly clean and feature a super dynamic and organically flowing sole unit, with a strap that extends beautifully from the sole unit and covers the lacing.
This whole project is super impressive, especially when you realize Martin made the sample by himself. Creating casual/fashion footwear is one thing, but making performance footwear by yourself with somewhat limited access to more techincal resources is quite a bit more difficult. You can see there were a couple areas that didn’t turn out quite like the initial ideation due to lack of resources/equipment, say for example the neoprene would have ideally been a knitted upper, and the toe box is a little bulbous, but reguardless the concept still ended up looking a lot like what Martin had in mind, which isn’t always the case even when you have a fully loaded, professional factory creating the sample. Kudos.
