George Duan Experiments with CNC’d Footwear

Using Rhino to build his sole unit in 3D, RISD student George Duan used a, Tormach CNC machine to create this complex sole out of maple wood. Duan also managed to CNC his own aluminium mould for the rubber pad’s/outsole.
The resulting sole unit really came out beautifully, and paired with the somewhat, minimal upper design, creates a super interesting dynamic between the sole and upper.
