Geology of Shoes | Barbora Vesela

In a stunning video captured by Petr Krejci, this ‘Geology of Shoes’ film captures the beautiful process, Barbora Vesela goes through when constructing one of her beautifully crafted shoes.

This particular shoe being inspired “from effects of erosive processes in nature as well as from traditional shoe making techniques. Special construction method has been developed and used across the collection. Multiple layers of leather scrap pieces are added on the last and subsequently sanded down to achieve the final shape and unique colour pattern of the shoe. Colour scheme is influenced by old geological maps.” – Barbora

Needles to say, the shoe came out beautifully and the erosive nature inspiration comes through very clearly in the final product. I also just love seeing the shoe maker apply their own personal touch to the shoe, being involved in every, labour intensive aspect. This really is creativity and craftsmanship at it’s finest.

You can see Barbora’s beautiful work, documented in the video below.
