Deft Wanderer by Arno Marchand (Video)

Current Native Shoes, Junior Designer & Developer, Arno Marchand created the ‘Deft Wanderer’ as a 4th year Industrial Design project while at Carleton University last year (2015).

(The ‘Deft Wanderer’ is a) Laceless trail boot for those who are not afraid to wander off the trail. The boot moves away from your typical lace-up hiker and explores alternative materials that are both rugged and easy to clean.” – Arno

Initially drawing inspiration from rubber boots, Arno wanted to come up with a boot that maintained their high level of water resistance, but had better the breathability and stabilibty. Arno also wanted to create something that was extremley easy to clean, something that essentially just be wiped clean, rather than completly soaked.

There are a whole host of other features, from a laceless construction to a beautifully executed, almost fully welded upper. For a full break-down of the entire concept, make sure to have a look at Arno’s video, and full process, below.
