Andrew Nyssen x New Balance Minimus Zero Road (Updated)

These beautifully designed running shoes are brought to you by New Balance senior footwear designer, Andrew Nyssen. The shoe is super light, extremely flexible and looks great. Check out the development of the concept, below.

Can you tell us a little about yourself?

I’m a happy family man that fell in love with shoes at an early age. Let’s just say that all it took was a “pump” I’ve been drawing shoes ever since.
I graduated with a BFA from Kendall College of Art & Design and have worked at NB for 9 years. I think I’ve designed for almost every footwear catagory at NB over the years but running is where I call home.

What inspired this concept?

I know it might sound weird but I was inspired by karate or ninja slippers.

They have a simple conforming upper with a slim sole that allows for sensitivity to the ground. When you run in the 00s you feel like your gliding through the dark like…..a ninja.

What are your favorite features of the design?

I really like the burrito tongue or “mono” tongue on the 00. It wraps your foot really well and allows for a nice fit.
