A Quick Look at the Development of Aimé Leon Dore Footwear

Aimé Leon Dore, a brand launched by Teddy Santis in 2014 has recently debuted their Chelsea boot style, designed and developed by Atelier LMTL.

Creating your own brand, and especially footwear imo, is honestly one of the most frustrating and rewarding experiences I’ve ever been involved in. Trying to nail every aspect and make sure it’s on point is a tall order, to say the least –

“Two years, 5 trips to Europe, 4 shoe lasts, 35 samples later and everything else that comes with trying to create something simple and beautiful that not only compliments today but pays respect to what inspired my whole world growing up. This is a huge accomplishment for ALD and every step has made this an unforgettable journey.” – Aimé Leon Dore Founder, Teddy Santis

From snaps of the initial tumbnail sketch, to last tape-ups and final sample details, you can see a quick look at the design & development of the both the Q14 (the # of the bus Teddy used to take to school in NYC) & the Q76, below.
