A Look at the Development of Filling Pieces’ Heel Cup Sole Unit

Filling Pieces head of design, Michael Lennheden and founder, Guillaume Philibert have been dropping hints of their AW17 collection, featuring silhouettes crafted from technical fabrics & finishings and six new custom made sole units, for the past few weeks.

Continuing with their signature sleek scaline silhouette and elongated tongue, what stood out most to me in this latest collection has been the development of their 1-piece, heel encompassing sole units. With the heel cup, midsole and outsole comprised within one mould, the transition from top to bottom is incredibly smooth.

Below you can see some of the development of the sole units, from initial clay model to sketches and final beauty shots of the finished product.
