A Look at the Design of the adidas Mad Bounce

A quick look at some of the initial sketches and design process of the adidas Mad Bounce from adi Basketball Footwear Designer, Dillon Patrick.

“When coming up with the initial design intent of the MB1 my driving insight was clear – the most explosive hoopers excel at transitioning horizontal forces to vertical lift, and most of this force is displaced on the lateral forefoot of the shoe.
The primary challenge was how to functionally bring support to this part of the shoe without overbuilding it? And secondly, how can I create a forefoot focused aesthetic for this shoe that visually hints at this idea of zonal support? How can we bring such a sneaker to market at $100, while still exploring overall silhouette and material mix?” – Dillon

See below for some of Dillon’s ideation sketches, renderings, and final product shots of the super clean, adidas Mad Bounce.
